Parent Code of Conduct
As a parent/guardian of an NRLH player, I understand that my actions impact my child's experience and the overall team culture. I commit to fostering a positive and supportive hockey environment.
As a parent, I agree to the following:
• It is a privilege, not a right, for my child to play youth hockey.
• I will emphasize sportsmanship and fair play as essential values my child learns from hockey.
• I will demonstrate respect for players, coaches, referees, and other parents, understanding that my child learns best by example.
• I will not force my child to participate but will support their love for the game in a fun and encouraging manner.
• I will applaud effort and skill development over wins and losses, recognizing that competition is secondary to growth at
younger levels.
• I will not embarrass my child by yelling at players, coaches, or officials. A positive attitude benefits everyone.
• I will refrain from criticizing officials, as it only hurts the game and sets a negative example for young athletes.
• I will recognize the importance of volunteer coaches and support them through encouragement and open communication.
• I will not create public displays of anger toward coaches, players, referees, or other parents. This includes in-person
confrontations, emails, phone calls, and social media posts.
• I will follow the 24-Hour Rule, which states that parents will wait at least 24 hours after a game before addressing concerns about playing time, position, or coaching decisions with a coach or team manager.
• I will adhere to SafeSport guidelines, respecting locker room privacy and avoiding any form of harassment, bullying, or misconduct.
